Location: Trails End Road, Manassas VA
Scott has bought the Faust’s house (next door to my parents house) and he’s fixing it up, tearing out walls and reconfiguring the rooms. I indicate i want to live there too so i buy the house with him. In the room that was Angie and Debbie’s bedroom he has removed the walls and put up ornate movable walls with crown molding along the top. He has put wallpaper on the walls behind the movable walls and along the top i can see where the old wall was. Apparently the wallpaper was like Velcro and Scott just put up a bigger sheet to fix the place where the flaw was. It's a goldish colored wallpaper with some kind of pattern that might be pineapples,
Upstairs in the attic (the actual house is a one storey craft-type home) it’s open on the sides to the elements and there’s a nice cool breeze blowing through. It’s dark up there and i notice that there’s a lot of plants. Most of them are African Violets and since they do well in very low light i figure we’ll keep the attic as it is. I’m thinking that maybe i’ll live up there but realize the elements will possibly ruin my furniture.
Cut scene to my parents house and my furniture.
It’s a complete set of the Pulaski furniture (in reality i have the Victorian style dresser with a big over mirror). There’s some kind of large cabinet/desk piece, a china cabinet, and a ?wardrobe? The sun is shining on the wood and it’s gleaming beautifully – warm and golden looking (my piece is actually darker than it appeared in the dream). So again, i think where would the furniture fit because the pieces are too big to fit any where other than the attic. I go back over to the Faust house and Scott has just received a kit for a giant building of some kind. It might be a v-ball court. He’s putting it together in the front yard and i ask him if he had the septic system checked first because it had failed before. (True – the yard smelled like shit after a heavy rain while i lived there. I heard, after i moved away, that finally the entire system failed and the entire yard became a cesspool.) Scott wasn’t sure and was going to take care of it. I also pointed out that he needed to take care not to hurt the big oak in the middle of the yard. (Also true. It’s most likely gone by now.)
Cut scene back to the attic and the violets.
It’s so cool and nice up in the attic that i decide i really want to live up there and take my chances of ruining my furniture. As i’m picking off the wilted flowers of many of the violets a big ‘tree truck’ pulls up to the house. I go down and Scott’s already talking to the man. He’s delivering a very strange kind of tree that he cut down from the back yard. It’s very twisty and gnarled and, even though it’s still got green needles on it it’s obviously dead. I don’t understand why Scott wants a dead tree but when the man plants it at the edge of the front yard i realize that, with time, it will become a kind of totem.
