bike repair

I have a brand new bicycle pump. It’s the same color as my bike so i decide to pump up the tires and go for a spin. It’s been a long time since i rode my bike so i don’t plan on going very far. I’m riding on Hoadly Road heading for Taylor’s store. I get to the store and check my tires. The store still looks the same as when i was a kid. Were there really those old fashioned gas pumps out front? I don’t remember. The rear rim is bent a little, crimped sort of so the wheel isn’t fully round. I pull the crimped piece back straight. At first it seems okay but then i see that the tire and the inner tube are split and it’s beyond just needing air. I pick up my bike and start walking back home. The chain is hanging off and looks like it needs to be cleaned and oiled. The bike isn’t heavy so i really don’t mind carrying it. When i get ‘home’ (it looks like some kind of apartment complex with lots of cement walkways), i put my bike in the back of a pickup truck. I drive to the bike shop (it’s The Spin Cycle) and as i'm bringing my bike in i’m trying to decide if i want to learn how to replace the tube and tire myself or just leave it at the shop and pay to let the experts fix the tire and the chain.
