The farm at the end of the highway

The dream begins in a ? café. I’m sitting at a heavy wooden table with benches. Like a picnic table but polished and more like furniture for a restaurant. I’m not sure who is with me at the table but I think I recall it being my dad and his brother, Duane, and one other person. A kid I think. Audree? I have to get something from the store and i’m driving an old beat up pickup truck along a two-lane paved road. There’re a few places of business along the side of the road but not what i’m looking for. My dad’s Uncle Bob is in the passenger seat and as we’re going down the road I mention that maybe it would be a good idea to move closer to Minneapolis because where we are on the outskirts is plenty country enough to have a little farm.

As i’m saying this, we’re in the “wilds” – there’s no construction and the landscape, other than the road, is wild and tangled (but flat – it’s Minnesota!). To my left I see the sun sparkling off something and realize it’s a very large cemetery and the sparkling is coming from reflection off some of the more ornate monuments. I really want to go look but I have Uncle Bob with me and need to keep going. I’m driving pretty fast – highway speed – when the road runs out and turns into a grass lane. I immediately take my foot off the gas and let the vehicle slow down because i don’t want to hit the brakes and leave marks in the grass. It’s a large farm. I’m not sure what is growing. There are a few little kids running around, playing kids’ games.  One of them, a chubby little boy with dark hair and eyes runs close by and looks at us for a minute then runs off after the other kids. It looks like a nice place.

I turn around and head back out to where the road was because I’ve obviously gone too far. Uncle Bob and I are walking back to the road and there are a couple of young hen-like birds and Bob says “turkey farm” and I laugh. I think it’s some kind of fruit tree farm really.

Then the dream morphs and i’m in a checkout line at the grocery store with Audree. I’m hungry and want to eat but Audree doesn’t want to so i’m thinking about where I can get a plate of food. An attractive lady comes into the store and is looking at me like i’m familiar to her but I don’t know who she is. Then i’m back in the café with my plate of food. It’s too much though – like I have two peoples’ portions on my plate. Some kind of pancake looking thing with a fried egg on top. I eat the both of the eggs but leave the rest. The attractive looking woman is waiting for me when i leave the place and says something to me but I woke up and can’t remember now.

It sure was good to hear Uncle Bob's voice again. I wonder if he died last night.
